Rubber duckies make bath time so much fun… unless they’re made of plastic containing phthalates that have been linked to cancer, hormone disruption and other health concerns. Decidedly, not so fun. Rich Frog toy company, based out of Burlington, Vermont, carries a collection of cute rubber duckies made from natural rubber (a safe and renewable resource that will biodegrade after its end of life) and hand-painted with non-toxic paints.
After hearing Bill McDonough’s TED talk a few years ago on Cradle to Cradle design, we can’t help but associate this innocent toy with a larger concern about how products (especially those designed for kids) are made.
