What the Heli?
Date: February 10, 2008 | Category: Home Furnishings, The Home
Traditionally made from woven straw, Japanese Tatami mats feature a protective fabric border called heli. Unfortunately, if the heli tape is shorter than 78 inches, the fabric is often discarded. When creators, Alex Garnett and Nahoko Koyama set out to form their studio Mixko, they were narrowly focused on happiness and simplicity in design. What they stumbled upon in their Tatami-Heli belts is repurposed beauty, now available through Greenergrassdesign. Buckle up, this is going to be a beautiful ride.
