Unchain My Heart

Late fashion savant Coco Chanel once decreed that when accessorizing, you should “always take off the last thing you put on.” This style maxim has oft been echoed, but being espoused by Madame Chanel herself doesn’t make it brassbound fact. Designer Nanci Bennett balks in the face of such restraint, finding inspiration for her punky, yet feminine jewelry line in the beauty of excess.
Sid Vintage is described as “Eco-beautiful,” and we enthusiastically agree. Bennett’s exquisitely-composed necklaces, earrings, rings, and bracelets are handcrafted in Venice, CA, bearing an artisan’s touch and statement-making rock n’ roll sensibility. The materials she uses—from porcelain pendants to cascading gold chains—are all of unique provenance, sourced from flea markets and thus ensuring that each piece is one-of-a-kind. The recycled chains are strung together with messy, but calculated elegance, such as the bold baubles in her “Unchain My Heart” collection.
“Diamonds are a girl’s best friend,” sang another style icon of yesteryear, but again we must disagree. For modern day, eco-conscious ladies, Sid Vintage is the BFF to hold onto.
