5th Annual TTG Summit Recap

The 5th Annual Teens Turning Green National Summit brought forth so much unbelievable energy and passion, united by the concept of global environmental sustainability. Adam Werbach, Global CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi S, kicked off Friday night with a tremendous keynote address - speaking to the importance of personal and corporate responsibility, micromovements and a holistic approach that addresses social, environmental, economic, and cultural factors.

Saturday’s panels addressed topics from eco lifestyle, science, and greening schools to politics, food, and global perspectives. The Global Perspectives on Sustainability panel stood out especially. Moderated by Spokeswoman and Founding Member Erin Schrode and Senior Campaign Co-President Kate Smith, the panel featured our very own, Zem Joaquin, who spoke of her involvement in many incredible projects (from ecofabulous to hosting TED’s ecovillage to working alongside Bill McDonough to her recent collaboration with The eBay Green Team and more!).

Marci Zaroff, founder of Under the Canopy and upcoming FASE (Fashion Art Soul Earth), got the room jazzed about the soon-to-be-released label of amazing fashion-forward designs. Olowo-n’djo Tchala spoke of his deep commitment to social and environmental justice through his remarkable company Alaffia, truly changing the lives of people in villages of rural Togo - an incredibly inspiring mission. And Kimberly Pinkson talked about EcoMom Alliance’s ever-growing audience and enthusiastic response, as well as the importance of understanding global webs of life.

Overall, a phenomenal exchange of wisdom that left attendees charged up and even more committed to the eco-movement. For more info on Teens Turning Green or to learn how you can get involved, check out the website here.
