Is Your Refrigerator Running?
Date: July 10, 2009 | Category: Home Furnishings, Kitchen, The Home

Well you better go catch it! Ok, corny jokes aside - the refrigerator is the only appliance that you leave running 24/7! Choosing an eco-conscious refrigeration system, like a Leibherr, helps you achieve a lighter carbon footprint, and saves you money on your electricity bill.
With an entire line of appliances that not only meet, but exceed the new guidelines for ENERGY STAR (a certification for strict energy efficiency guidelines, these fridges use about 40% less energy than their non-certified counterparts), Leibherr is the first refrigeration manufacturer to be RoHS compliant, which means that their appliances do not contain hazardous substances like lead, mercury, or cadmium, among others.
The fridges incorporate LED lights and use glass shelves to reduce plastic. Additionally, all packaging materials are 100% recyclable. While these sleek, contemporary fridges may not be the least expensive option on the market, you’ll be purchasing an appliance that’s built to last and has been designed with your health and the health of the planet in mind.

This is true that these refrigerators are a wonderful addition to not only your kitchen but also a way to decrease your carbon footprint. The only fyi I would add is that in the US they tend to be called Haier refrigerators. We have done a great many reviews on them so if you would like to know more about Haier, you can go to http://www.RefrigeratorPro.com/haier_refrigerator.html

Has anyone spotted this UK site http://www.sust-it.net which ranks electrical products by running cost. They even have the facility to change the costs to dollars too.

I included a Liebherr HC 2062 in my green kitchen remodel this March. I couldn’t be more pleased. It replaced a KitchenAid side-by-side counter depth that was 25 cubic feet. I was concerned that I wouldn’t have enough space - but I’m great (especially since we have been trying to rely more on local produce and cutting down on anything frozen). The Liebherr is so quiet and I love the beep when I leave it open. I couldn’t be happier!!!
