Green Friday is the New Black Friday

Picture 11

It’s pretty safe to say that most of us have at least started thinking about our holiday shopping (though I often wait until the last minute to actually act). We’re definitely going to be imbuing our site with as much ecofab advice as we can to help you green up this notoriously wasteful time of year. Shopping for gifts should be a rewarding, thoughtful endeavor that actually can be approached in a way that minimizes its environmental impact; making it even more considerate. You needn’t give up gift-giving altogether, we just want our eco-wise consumers to be able to engage in smarter shopping by supporting local and green companies and to help make sure your dollars communicate your values. Companies like Barneys New York recognize that consumers have an additional concern added to their lists this year, and it is all about eco, baby! In that spirit, Barneys is encouraging customers to “Give Good Green,” and they’re backing it up with some pretty solid actions at each of their stores. Their green-themed windows pay homage to some of “The Heroes of Green,” like Al Gore and Wangari Maathai, with displays such as “Rudolph the Recycling Reindeer” and “Green Days of Christmas.” The artistic genius is worth seeing even if you aren’t playing Santa this year. They also feature children’s paintings of “Mother Earth” whose proceeds will benefit regional charities. Barneys is also stocking their stores with green merchandise, what they’re referring to as “gorgeous green gifts, fabulously fair-trade fashion, sensationally sustainable swag, orgasmic organic denim and cashmere, environmentally conscious tchotchkes of all descriptions & philanthropic gestures to warm the cockles of your heart.” I guess Simon Doonan likes alliteration almost as much as I do! With a percentage of the sales from an assortment of featured products going to organizations such as The Climate Project, National Resources Defense Council and AmfAR, this is luxury shopping at its finest. In addition to that, Barneys has committed to planting 25,000 trees with the American Forests Organization. Don’t forget to bring your own bags – they’re not just for groceries anymore!

I really enjoyed this post!

Just out of curiosity….Do you know where I can get quality organic/vegan ingredients online? I am now trying to order from online stores only because of various reasons…….can you help me with any suggestions??????

There is only one place, out of all that I have tried that really stood out for true quailty, and that is Celebrityfoods.

If you can help me grow my list of quality services or stores, where I can buy my food, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you!
