Gorgeous Eyes A-Go-Go (+ WEEKLY GIVEAWAY)

When’s the last time getting gorgeous meant giving back? With Josie Maran’s new GOGO Instant Natural Volume Argan Mascara, you get thick, full lashes and so does a cancer patient/survivor. Josie’s teamed up with City of Hope, a leading cancer research, treatment and education institute to help women look better, feel better and build self-esteem through eco-friendly products (so many pink ribbon products, or those donating to a cancer-related cause actually contain chemicals that are known carcinogens). In Living Nature

Established in 1987 and distributed in Europe, Asia and many other parts of the world, we’ve just stumbled upon the pot of gold skincare at the end of the rainbow (hint: the arc ended right in the luscious New Zealand countryside). Living Nature is produced exclusively with ingredients found in New Zealand – and since over 80% of the country’s plants are found nowhere else in the world, it’s no wonder this line is truly unique to what exists on the market today. Style & Substance: “Gifts Giving Back” Event

‘Tis the season for giving in many forms – gifts, thanks, and assistance to the less fortunate whenever possible. It’s also the season for champagne soirees as displayed at last week’s “Gifts Giving Back” event to benefit Toys for Tots in Los Angeles, put on by our friends at Coco Eco Magazine, Love Heals jewelry, Fred Segal Santa Monica, and Greenbees, among other ethical vendors.

The spirit of glitter and glam – inspired in part by celebrity chair Rachael Leigh Cook (pictured above with Rachel Avalon, winner of the Project Green Model Search) and the participation of ecofabulous-favorite, Linda Loudermilk – was alive and well. Many a stylish green shopper showed up with a donation for Toys for Tots, and took the opportunity to peruse some of Fred Segal’s many green gift options. While artists from Tarte Cosmetics gave mini makeovers and organic burgers from O! circulated the crowd, guests learned more about co-chair Love Heals’ ambitious, charitable mission. (more…)

Completely water-based, non-flammable and free of toxic fumes, Acquarella Nail Polish hydrates the nail, helping to prevent nails from chipping, peeling and yellowing commonly associated with harsh conventional nail products. Best of the Breast: The Greenest Pink Ribbon Purchases

Women’s ta-tas are all the talk these days. October is national breast cancer awareness month, and by now you’re probably more than inundated with pink ribbon products that donate a portion of proceeds to breast cancer research or help fund mammograms. The ironic (and unfortunate) thing about many of these products is that they often contain chemicals that are not only harmful to the environment, but have been linked to cancer. (more…)

No More Waiting Online for Green Beauty

Green beauty counters are few and far between, even at prominent department stores. Because we choose to eschew lead in our lipstick, we make a point of seeking out product lines that are guilt-free, cruelty-free, and that will gloss, highlight, and blush us just as well as their non-natural counterparts. Ordering online is quick and easy, but why should us eco girls be excluded from the fun of testing and blending different colors in person? (more…)
